I want to make a quilt...

... And no I have never made one before but since I got my sewing machine and started actually using it I can't stop thinking about what I can do next!

So then I stumble across Susan Weinroth's blog. And I see this...

And then that was it, I have not stopped thinking about making a quilt ever since! Isn't she talented?? Not only is she a fantastic scrapbooker but she sews and has me totally inspired.

Oh boy.

Once I decide I want to do something, I pretty much become obsessed about it until I do it lol

So... now my thoughts are full of fabric and colours and needles and thread and walking foots? Whatever they are. Do I need one?

I'm completely clueless as you can see.

But it's wintertime and I'm determined that Ashleigh will have a homemade quilt to snuggle under (or maybe her teddy can snuggle under depending on how big I make the thing lol).

Am I being too ambitious?

I actually asked Ashleigh if she wanted me to make her a quilt, and in typical Ashleigh style she says "Yes! Can we make one now? I'll help!". Everything is now, now, now in a 4 year olds world lol. But now that she knows I'm planning to make one I have to do it. No backing out. She won't let me ;)

Okay, so tomorrow, I'm going to look at fabric. Wish me luck.

:)

  1. yeah, I know how that 4 year old business goes : ) What's so great about learning a new craft is that it always seems like the ones who love it and have been doing it for so long love to share their knowledge. Are you going to a shop just for quilters? I imagine they would be a ton of help. And take your photo in too.Good luck - you can do it.

  5. This is my first time to visit your blog (I'm from SC :)), and I saw the "I want to make a quilt" post on the side, and it totally caught my eye. The EXACT same thing happened to me and also because of looking at Susan's blog! I used her Fiskar's tutorial that she links you up to, and have started my quilt!! SO MUCH FUN! Good luck on yours when you start it!
